Key challenge

Aeromet is a leading manufacturer to the aerospace and defence sectors specialising in aluminium and magnesium castings and fully-finished, assembly ready cast parts. They operate across three sites in the UK and have a reputation for exceeding customers expectations and pushing the boundaries of what is possible using casting technology.

Aeromet wanted an independent review to assess their current IT systems, developed applications, hardware and infrastructure, IT structure, policies and procedures, governance, and 3rd Party IT relationships to identify risks and efficiencies but also to advise of any wider opportunities that could be exploited compared to best practice.

Work completed

Ballards IT and Digital Transformation department were selected to conduct an IT Current State Assessment.

Our team spent several days across the Aeromet sites holding in-person discovery meetings with the IT Team, conducted a licence audit, understood the developed software and report generation, reviewed existing technical documents, held discussions with 3rd Party providers, and reviewed existing polices and procedures.

The information gathered was analysed and compared to both best practice and also to similar businesses.

Key risks and opportunities were identified along with a set of actionable prioritised recommendations and next steps, which were presented and walked through with Aeromet.

The review and resulting report was very well received by Aeromet, with the actionable recommendations forming the basis of future plans.
